We invite new people to come aboard our Board!

VOLUNTARY/ UNPAID

Off the Rails Arthouse – A Creative Space to Gather and Learn

Deadline -Thursday 30th June 5pm

Off The Rails Arthouse is an artist led organisation run on a voluntary basis which has offered space to explore a wide range of arts-related activities since 2012. Based in the former station master’s house at Ladybank station, it is constituted as a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation – registered charity SC046622).

The programme includes opportunities both for invited artists and for artists and groups wishing to hire space to deliver their activity. Classes, workshops and masterclasses cater for people of all ages and at different stages in their creative journey. Pop-up exhibitions, training events and meetings all make the most of the special atmosphere and environment of the house where literary and musical activities also take place. During the pandemic a couple of outreach workshops took place and mini-residencies were trialled for artists to develop their own practice in the light-filled studios. In good weather the garden space is also used.

With the organisation celebrating its tenth anniversary as we emerge from the pandemic, we are looking to develop the programme and extend its reach.

In order to achieve this, we wish to further diversify the voluntary board. Currently there are 6 members bringing a range of experience including art practice, arts education and administration, and finance. Fresh imagination and enthusiasm will help us to explore further creative opportunities the Arthouse could provide, as well as ways of making these available to new audiences.  We will therefore welcome applications from disabled people, the Global Majority, LGBT+ people, those from less-advantaged socio-economic backgrounds and those bringing the perspective of young people. Although the organisation is based in Fife, Board members from outwith the region are also welcome. For in-person meetings the adjoining railway station facilitates public transport and there is also plentiful parking nearby.

A mix of Board meetings online and in-person at the Arthouse take place, usually every couple of months. As a small voluntary organisation without paid staff, Board members are often involved in the hands-on aspects of running of the Arthouse. The team is committed to continuing and developing the current success and having fun in the process.

Although this is a voluntary role any expenses incurred in attending meetings and carrying out Board business can be re-imbursed.
