Traditions were Upended

In June, Kate Downie lead a very experimental workshop called Upended Traditions. We started with a huge pile of discarded and dormant art materials dug out from the dark recesses of our studios, garages and cupboards.

We then mixed and experimented with these materials to make new inks and paint mixtures to create artwork using the Howe of Fife as our inspiration. Kate shared many different techniques to help get the most out of the resources we had.

The weather was great ( it was June remember), so much of the workshop was done outside – working with nature in the gardens.
