Talking Heads

The amazing results from last weekends workshop An Introduction to Portraiture led by Katy McKidd Stevenson really showcase exactly what the Arthouse is all about. Fantastic creativity from all involved.

Lost in Summer

It may officially be Autumn, but that doesn’t stop us holding our Developing A Studio Practice Summer School with Fraser Taylor this week. In the world today, anything is possible!

We began with a detailed and encouraging review of our Getting Lost exhibition. A shared discussion looking at all the artwork really helped us all to put our thoughts into focus for the week ahead.

Getting Lost : opening night

Not even the weather could dampen the spirits, as the Getting Lost exhibition opened to the public. A fantastic number of guests and visitors enjoyed the creative artwork, as well as chatting to many of the artists involved, and enjoying the delights of asian street food (courtesy of Umis Kitchen). A very successful opening night – don’t forget the exhibition is open 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday

Experimental Fun with Cyanotype

Last Saturday, much experimenting and fun was had at the Arthouse trying out the Cyanotype process. Preparing and drying our papers and textiles, before exposing them to the sun and seeing what magic developed. Thanks to Kit Martin for sharing all her knowledge and enthusiasm.

The message is in the medium- Summer school 2nd-5th July

What a brilliant week at the Arthouse. Developing ideas, narratives, printing techniques and friendships. It doesn’t get much better than this!
