Alternative Watercolour techniques
Angus McEwan AWI RWS RGI RSW
10am-4pm each day
4 day course fee £195.00
We are delighted to offer another opportunity to work with one of Scotland’s foremost artists in watercolour.
Angus McEwan has a well-deserved international reputation for his stunning work. His deep love of texture, weathered surface and subtle colour shines through his paintings. You can see examples of his work at http://www.angusmcewan.com/McEwan/
The aim of this 4 day summer school is to realise the true potential of watercolour in its ability to describe unique surface characteristics of different objects. The utilization of numerous applications will be explored to help the students uncover the many possibilities available within the media. Students are encouraged to take ideas away that will help inform their own practice. Angus will supply reference photographs and a range of objects to work from – students can bring their own if they want to. If possible, they should select objects, which have a range of different surfaces e.g. Dried fruit (oranges, lemons, flowers, leaves, tree branch or drift wood etc.), rusty, old, broken, worn tools or machinery.
This course is suitable for those with some previous experience with watercolour.
