This two-day workshop will introduce you to the methods, materials and techniques associated with working with oil paint. It is suitable for beginners, or for practising artists who specialise in other media.
On day one the full range of activities essential to painting in oil will be demonstrated and explored. This will include preparation of supports, palette layout, colour selection and using mediums, thinners and binders. You will also explore a range of methods and techniques which exploit the endless possibilities of oil paint.
On day two you will apply what you have learned, by carrying out an exercise in oils based on exploration of sculptural/architectural/abstract and interrelated forms. This will give you a sense of how to explore the techniques further in your own time.
