Introduction to Portraiture
Saturday 10th October at 10:00am – Sunday 11th October at 4:00pm

We are delighted to welcome back local portrait and narrative painter Katy McKidd Stevenson to Off the Rails Arthouse. Katy’s own work is stunning and fascinating and you can see examples here. She has taught in secondary schools for many years, building up a successful programme for beginners and intermediate students. She is now bringing her introductory portraiture programme to adults. Her classes have been very well received, with students saying they have learned a huge amount and found the course very enjoyable and exciting.
This two-day workshop is suitable for all ages and abilities. It may be that you are new to portraiture, or that you wish to refresh your approach or try new media. You may have attended this workshop with Katy previously, in which case you are welcome to join again and enhance your skills. Skills covered are drawing and painting from life and photos, learning about facial proportion, tone, colour and media-handling. Students will find their work improves hugely in a short time, and they are supported through this progress with encouragement, individual assistance and a relaxed learning environment. The workshop will focus on pencil and acrylic paint, and these will be taught in an easy step-by-step structure.

Cost £110, including materials
