We are very happy to welcome back our friend Dominique Cameron for a one day workshop. Many of you will have experienced her excellent teaching and guiding and may well want to reconnect with such an inspiring artist. If you haven’t attended any of her workshops before, this is an opportunity to expand your thinking and explore new ideas. Take a look at her website and look at her own visual and written work. Dominique explains the workshop in her own words.
As an artist my practice has always centred on ideas of mapping through walking, writing and drawing. In this workshop I want to explore some of these ideas and how to make a work that utilises some or all of these activities.
We will be spending time thinking and articulating in words a particular walk or experience that I want you to bring with you – a memory of a favourite walk, or place, or a journey, or an event or personal experience, perhaps not physical but yet can be the starting point from where we will launch into drawn and textual languages of map making. Here are some recent maps I have made of walks for you to take a look at.
Please bring any art materials you have at home- i.e. paper and drawing/painting materials and we have some materials here at Off The Rails too. I will bring some things to use too so between us all there will be plenty to work with.
No experience of anything is needed, just yourselves and a curiosity to explore.
Cost £55, including tea, coffee and use of some materials
