This one-day course is aimed at people with different levels of experience including beginners, or those who would welcome one-to-one support and want to develop ideas and extend their creative approach.
Come and join Edinburgh artist Sarah Knox who is well-known for her atmospheric landscape painting and now is brimming with enthusiasm about her fresh refocus since lockdown as she began drawing plein-air in her garden and found inspiration in immediate surroundings and people. Sarah will take you outside to draw and paint in the garden adjacent to the Arthouse – searching out those repeated motifs such as: the lines of planting, the shape of a shed or a fellow artist drawing. She will demonstrate how the process of making multiple drawings will become meditative and therapeutic.
This workshop will be a two-way dialogue and Sarah will stimulate you to explore materials such as ink and stick, oil pastels and watercolours. She will share her tips on years of painting in all weathers and will talk you through her influences and a new body of work #sarahknoxgardencanvas.
Please bring a sketching stool, pencil-case and watercolours with your favourite brushes, an A4 or A3 drawing board, masking tape and at least 2 sketchbooks. Wear layers: including a waterproof coat and jumper with a wool mix. You may need a hat or hood and of course sensible footwear. Please remember to bring a flask and packed lunch.
The Arthouse is currently limiting class numbers to six, and you can look at our Covid arrangements here. If you have any further queries, please get in touch.
